As January comes to an end, so do my challenges. Thye have given me something to work towards, and to feel good about achieving.

The Month of Miles challenge (run 26.2 miles in the month) has got me out in the fresh air, which I don't do as much as I used to with a now old dog. They improved my fitness level for jogging and raised awareness plus money for Diabetes UK. This was quite an easy challenge, although lack of planning meant quite a few miles were needed in the last week.

The Thirst for Life challenge (only drink water) was a much harder challenge. It was on my mind most of the time. I missed tea and occasionally a treat drink such as hot milk or a gin and tonic.

This challenge taught me that:

  • warm water is OK.

  • I'd got into a habit of having a nice drink when doing a big job like painting a room and also on Friday nights.

  • I like flavour in my drinks at times.

  • having a water bottle with me most days helps keep fluid levels up.

As it was only for one month it was too short a time period to notice much difference in my skin, but I did notice some improvement in my sleep.

A total of £80 was raised for the two charities which was an extra bonus.

As mentioned before I do like the occassional challenge. It makes me feel alive, accomplished and motivated. Set yourself one and let me know how you get on.
